The Best Rejections
“You have gotten the best rejections this week,” my friend says.
True that.
Editor 1 not only wrote back, but thanked me for submitting and said my piece is “very well written,” but, alas it was “not quite right.” Editor 1 then suggested another major outlet for which it would be a “good match.” [Said major publication has not responded, but that seems beside the point.]
Editor 2 wrote back to say my piece “would have been a nice fit” for a column they used to run. Alas, said column is no more, and cannot use my piece.
Editor 3 rejected, but offered a regular gig.
Sharing champagne across the ocean with Lauren Apfel, tonight!
